also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23
Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from
the garden of Eden,
35
to till the ground from from
where he was taken.
24
So he drove out the man; and he placed at
36
the east of the garden of Eden
37
Cherubim, and a
flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the
way of the tree of life.

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she
conceived, and bore
II
Cain, and said, I have gotten
a man from the LORD.
2
And she again bore his
brother
II
Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but
Cain was
1
a tiller of the ground.
3
And in process of
time it came to pass, that Cain brought
2
of the fruit
of the ground an offering to the LORD.
4
And Abel, he also brought
3
of the firstborn of
his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD
4
had
respect to Abel and to his offering:
5
But to Cain
and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was
very wroth, and his
5
countenance fell.
6
And the
LORD said to Cain, Why are you wroth? and why
is your countenance fallen?
7
If you do well, shall
you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies
at the door. And to you shall be
6
his desire
Vg+
, and
you shall rule over him.

8
And Cain talked with
Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they
were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his
brother, and
7
slew him.
9
And the LORD said to
Cain,
8
Where is Abel your brother? And he said,
9
I
know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
10
And he said, What have you done? the voice of
your brother’s blood
10
cries to me from the ground.
11
And now are you cursed from the earth, which
has opened her mouth to receive your brother’s
blood from your hand;
12
When you till the ground,
it shall not from now on yield to you her strength; a
fugitive and a vagabond
Vg+
shall you be in the earth.
13
And Cain said to the LORD, My punishment is
greater than I can bear.
Vg+
14
Behold,
11
you have driven me out this day from
the face of the earth; and
12
from your face shall I be
hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond
Vg+
in
the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one
13
that finds me shall slay me.
15
And the LORD said to him, Therefore whoever
slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him
14
sevenfold. And the LORD
15
set a mark on Cain, lest
any finding him should kill him.
16
16
And Cain went out from the presence of
the LORD, and dwelled
(Vg*)
in the land of Nod, on the
east of Eden.
17
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived,
and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and
17
called the
name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18
And to Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat
Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and
Methusael begat Lamech.
19
And Lamech took to
him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and
the name of the other Zillah.
20
And Adah bore
Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell
in tents, and of such as have cattle.

Hast thou not
