Basic HTML Version

We feel obliged to state that the majority of those translations are good indeed,
but there are many places in which those translations have not fully conveyed the richness,
clarity and depth of the original Greek text.
We found a classic example in 1
st
Corinthians 1:25
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men;
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
KJV/NKJV
We found translations that were almost identical in:
21
st
Century KJV, American Standard
Version, Common English Bible, Contemporary English Version, Darby Translation, Douay-Reims,
Authorized KJV, New English Translation, World English Bible, American KJV
and many others.
It is significant to note that 1
st
Cor. 1:25, as it has been translated, is in direct
contradiction to the concept of God’s omniscience and omnipotence.
There is no such a thing as
foolishness
or
weakness
of God.
In the Greek text we read:
“to
MORON
tou Theou, sophoteron ton anthropon
esti, kai to
ASTHENES t
ou Theou ischyroteron ton anthropon esti
.
Moron
is of neutral gender and its meaning refers to a man that has been converted
but still is in the early stages of his spiritual development.
“Moron
in Greek is the
newborn baby (1 PE. 2:2).
MORIA
means the foolishness and
MOROS
means
fool. Thus, we have to read:
“Because God’s baby is wiser than men
...
Moron (psychology), disused term for a person with a mental age between 8 and 12, and a common
insult for a person considered stupid (or just a generic insult)
Likewise, instead of the
weakness of God
» in the Greek text we read:
to
ASTHENES t
ou Theou”.
Asthenes
is a compound adjective, comprised
of two parts:
a
- a negative particle, and
sthenos
- meaning ‘strength’.
Therefore,
asthenes
mean weak. Thus, the translation should read:
Because God’s baby is wiser than men and the weak (
child
) is stronger than
men.
The answer of how a baby of God is wiser than men, and the weak (
child
) of God is
stronger than men, is found in the 1
st
JOHN 2:14
I have written unto you, fathers,
because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young
men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the
wicked one.»
An Old Testament example
:
Psalm 19:7-
AKJV
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the
LORD is sure, making wise the simple.-
Sg
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting souls:
the testimony of the Lord is faithful, instructing babes. -
Vg
The law of the Lord is unspotted,
converting souls: the testimony of the Lord is faithful, giving wisdom to little ones.
All nations have had the New Testament
translated into their language from the Greek text.
