19
And he said to them, Follow me, and
16
I will make you fishers
of men.
20
17
And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
21
18
And going on from there, he saw other two brothers, James the
son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their
father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and
followed him.
23
And Jesus went about all Galilee,
19
teaching in their
synagogues, and preaching
20
the gospel of the kingdom, and
21
healing
all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
24
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought to
him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments,
and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were
lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
25
And
22
there followed him great multitudes of people from
Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea,
and from beyond Jordan.
Ch. 5
th
1
And seeing the multitudes,
1
he went up into a mountain: and
when he was set, his disciples came to him:
2
And he opened his
mouth, and taught them, saying,
3
2
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
4
3
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5
4
Blessed are the meek:
5
for they shall inherit the earth.
6
Blessed
are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
6
for they shall
be filled.
7
Blessed are the merciful:
7
for they shall obtain mercy.
8
8
Blessed are the pure in heart:
9
for they shall see God.
9
Blessed
are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10
10
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’
sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11
11
Blessed are you, when
men shall revile you, and persecute you,
12
and shall say all manner of
evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12
13
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in
heaven:for
14
so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13
You are the salt of the earth: but
15
if the salt have lost his
flavor, with which shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
